The Pexmora L3 is a clamp-mounted LED desk lamp with an asymmetric optic. Instead of shining straight down, the head throws most of its light forward and away from the user, so a wide desk is lit evenly while the screen in front of you stays free of reflections. It suits a monitor setup better than a lamp that lights a small circle.
The clamp fits desk tops from 10 to 60 millimetres thick and leaves the whole surface free. From the clamp, a vertical post and a single horizontal arm hold the head 45 centimetres above the desk. The arm slides along the post, and the head tilts 30 degrees in either direction.
An ambient light sensor in the head measures the light already in the room and adjusts the lamp's output to keep the desk at the brightness you set. On a grey afternoon the lamp brightens; as daylight returns it dims. The automatic mode can be switched off with a long press on the touch strip.
Color temperature ranges from 2700 K to 5000 K. Three memory slots save combinations of brightness and color, so you can switch between a cool setting for daytime work and a warm one for the evening with one touch. The settings are kept when the lamp is unplugged.
Setup takes a few minutes. The clamp tightens with a large thumb wheel, so no tools are needed, and the cable runs inside the post and arm to keep the desk tidy. The lamp remembers whether automatic mode was on when it was last switched off.
The L3 is made from anodized aluminium in silver or black. It has a maximum power draw of 12 W, a 2 metre cable with an inline switch, and a three-year warranty on the LED module and the sensor.
